CATION

As we, the Senior Class of 1960, leave Berea College,
we will remember Berea in many ways. The numerous friend-
ships we have formed here— friendships among both students
and faculty— shall be dominant among our memories. Our
friendship with Miss Julia Allen will especially be remem-
bered. Because of her untiring work, encouraging friendli-
ness, patience, guidance, and leadership, we will remember
her as an administrator, a teacher, and a personal friend. In
recognition of her devoted service to Berea College, the
Senior Class dedicates its 1960 CHIMES to JULIA ALLEN.

French Club

This organization is sponsored by the French Department to augment
not only our knowledge of the French language, but also our knowledge
of the country and its customs. The meetings are planned and attended
by the students, teachers, and others interested in French.

Spanish Club

The Spanish Club's activities stress student participation— each mem-
ber being actively responsible for the success of its programs. As one
of their projects, the Spanish Club helped finance the trip of several
of its members to visit Cuba this past summer. It is the purpose of
the club, of course, to have fun, but underlying this lighter motive is
a serious desire to learn more about the Spanish language and culture.
